'Quartet' comes to Wotton-Under-Edge Posted: 3, 2014 12: 1 | Edit
This April Wotton-under-Edge Dramatic Society is staging the play 'Quartet'. Audiences may already be familiar with the play as it was recently made in to a film directed by Dustin Hoffman and starring Billy Connolly, Tom Courtenay, Pauline Collins and Dame Maggie Smith and the play also sees four of the more experienced and familiar of Wotton dramatic Society’s members on stage together, Paul Barber, Jane Parker, Roger Gunning and Mary Downs.

Quartet will be at Wotton-under-Edge town hall on Wednesday 9th, Thursday 10th, Friday 11th and Saturday 12th April. Tickets are £7 (stalls) and £5 (gallery) and are available from the Cotswold Book Room from the 8th March, 26 Long Street, Wotton-under-Edge (9am to 5pm only).

Our Spring Show and Plant sale will be held in the Wotton Baptist Hall in Rope Walk at 11.00 am (entrance 50p children free). Entries from 8.00 am to 9.15 am from all GL12 residents are encouraged and also from outside this immediate neighbourhood by arrangement (contact David Wilson on 01453 521523). The categories for this show are cut flowers, flowering bulbs or corms, pots plants and vegetables. Schedules are available by request from Sue Laing 01453 842489. The plant sale is always very popular so please come early to get the best bargains.

Starting from1.00 families can pick up a leaflet from Charfield Memorial Hall which gives you clues to follow around the village to find rabbits and Easter eggs then back to the hall for an Easter fair with raffle, games, refreshments etc. We have some tables available for people who want to sell home made goods/ cards etc for £5 these can be booked by calling 01454 261180. The fair is on from 1.30 to 4.30 the winner of the bunny hunt will be announced at 4.00. If you did our gnome hunt in September you won't want to miss this event too, This is a joint fundraiser for the hall and out of school club.

One half of ‘India Electric Co.’ Cole Stacey is an acclaimed singer-songwriter originally from Devon who in the last 3 years has opened sell-out shows for the likes of Midge Ure, Show of Hands & Cara Dillon. He’s enjoyed national radio play on the likes of BBC Radio 3, BBC 6Music, major festival appearances and headline European shows. Alongside multi-isntrumentalist/songwri ter Joseph O’Keefe, he released their debut joint album ‘On Hire’ prompting adulation from the likes of Steve Knightley (Show Of Hands) who declared it is “Fresh, inventive & original… one of the best albums I’ve heard from young songwriters this year”.

Many of the locations are unexpected, found while exploring the Cotswold countryside. "I use the visual elements of nature and landscape to create images of my own making." The finished prints are made by Rob " The making of the print is an important part of the creation of the image. like to convey a painterly quality, which helps to bring out the emotional power of these special places."
