The Old Meeting House, still standing in Old Town, was the first of the Free Churches and was built between 1701 and 1703, although it has undergone certain changes since it was first erected. The Rev. James Hardyman served as pastor for 61 years up to 1941. It is not currently in use for worship. The United Church enlarged and refurbished their premises in Bradley Street in 2000 to provide pleasing and versatile church, meeting rooms and ancillary facilities, with full access for the disabled. The United Church is a combination of the Methodists and the Congregationalists who previously worshipped at the Tabernacle. The Baptist Church in Rope Walk was not built until 1816, although the building reflects architectural characteristics of the previous century. There has, however, been a Baptist ministry in Wotton since 1717. On the Synwell side of the town, the Oliver Memorial Chapel is a Free Church which owes its name to Henry George Oliver, who was the leader of its congregation from 1888 until his death in 1947. The New Life Church is situated between the Ram Inn and the Potters Pond car park. The Society of Friends (Quakers) meets in the Chipping Clubroom.
Wotton-under-Edge has a substantial number of Roman Catholics who worship at the Church of the Holy Cross, which is centrally placed in Old Town, close to the War Memorial, in a converted mill building. Visitors are welcome at all Wotton's churches.
