Funding Opportunity – Made by Sport – Clubs in Crisis

16 April 2021

Active Gloucestershire are delighted to have teamed up with the Gloucestershire Community Foundation and Made By Sport on their Clubs in Crisis grants scheme. Grants are available to support local sports clubs and organisations to reach young people as they start to recover from the effects of the latest lockdown.

Gloucestershire Community Foundation will be administering the fund on behalf of Made By Sport and will be awarding unrestricted grants of up to £2,021 to clubs who match the criteria. The fund is looking for applications from clubs and community organisations using sport and physical activity to improve young people’s lives through one or more of the following means:
–      Developing life skills

–      Building strong communities

–      Improving mental health

–      Developing employability skills

–      Reducing crime and anti-social behaviour

How much can you apply for?

The programme will invite applications of £2,021.  If your organisation requires a smaller grant, please do just apply for the amount you need.

Deadline for application submissions

Applications can be made from the 12 April 2021, and will close on 14th May 2021.

Applicants will be notified of the decision before the end of June 2021. The sooner you apply, the better as we expect high demand for the funding.

Let’s Talk Event

GCF and Active Gloucestershire will be holding a Let’s Talk event for the Made By Sport ‘Clubs in Crisis’ grant programme on Wednesday 28th April at 1.30pm to talk through the programme and for you to ask any questions you may have about making an application.  Please sign up using Eventbrite Events

What can the funding be spent on?

The funding is unrestricted so can be spent on core costs as well as programme or capital costs. Funds can also be used towards match funding or for leverage for a larger programme. Applications particularly welcome if the funding will support the sustainability of your organisation.

Who can apply?

This programme supports clubs or organisations which intentionally use sport to deliver wider social outcomes. The organisations that will be prioritised for funding will operate mostly in disadvantaged communities, often working collaboratively with other partners to meet local need, and may offer cross-sector activities. This programme will support clubs and organisations based in Gloucestershire including charities, social enterprises, Community Interest Companies and other not-for-profit organisations. Grants will be awarded to organisations with a turnover less than £75,000 with priority given to those groups with a turnover less than £25,000.

Who cannot apply?

Organisations who are unable to demonstrate that the pandemic has affected them either operationally or financially should not apply.

Community sport clubs and organisations who only focus on developing and widening opportunities to participate (traditionally those voluntary sports clubs and organisations overseen by governing bodies) who are not intentionally working towards one of these five sport for development outcomes:

–      Developing life skills

–      Building strong communities

–      Improving mental health

–      Developing employability skills

–      Reducing crime and anti-social behaviour

Note to applicants: Made By Sport is offering the opportunity thanks to support from the Cash4Clubs scheme. The Cash4Clubs scheme is funded by Flutter Entertainment Ltd.
