Livestock Worrying in the Wotton-under Edge Area

This is a message to remind dog owners to take care when exercising their dogs by keeping it on a lead and to also ensure that property is secure so that dogs or other animals cannot get out.

It is now also a legal requirement that dogs are chipped and wear a collar.

Unfortunately over the weekend and also during the lambing season a dog broke free from their owners property within the Wotton area. As a result the dog made its way onto a nearby field containing lambs.

The dog caused damage to these lambs resulting in a number of them to be killed. Unfortunately the dog was then shot dead as to not cause further damage to livestock.

Please be mindful that farmers will take this action as a last resort.
