To mark the 80th anniversary of VE-Day there will be a 2-minute silence at 12pm on Thursday 8th May 2025, along with the reading of the Proclamation by the Town Crier at St Mary’s Church. There are other events taking place during the day to mark the occasion finishing with Wotton and District Silver Band playing on Wotton Hill from 8.30pm followed by the playing of “I Vow to Thee My Country”, the National Tribute and the lighting of the beacon from 9.15pm. There will be an exhibition of local photos and memorabilia in the Heritage Centre in The Chipping from Monday 5th May 2025.
