WUE PROCLAMATION OF ACCESSION AT ST MARY’S CHURCH – SUNDAY 11th SEPTEMBER 2022 AT 5PM

You are all invited and very welcome to join the Town Mayor who will be reading the Proclamation of Accession outside St Mary’s Church on Sunday 11th September 2022 at 5pm.
This is the historic way of sharing the news that the monarch has died, and the heir has acceded to the throne.
The Town Council led by the Mace Bearer will lead the procession to the Church.
Members of Wotton Silver Band will play the National Anthem and you are all invited to join the Hoorah of 3 cheers to the new King.
This is a truly historic occasion and for some of us will be the only time we see this in our lifetime. It will be something to tell your children and their children in years to come. A photographer will be recording the Proclamation for the archives.
The Church will be open, and you are very welcome to come in and sign the Book of Condolence, light a candle, or to enjoy the historical beauty of the Church and have a moment of reflection.
I apologise for the late notice, but we are only just receiving information and we have to arrange things around this. I hope you can come; the weather forecast is good. Town Clerk.
