Latest Remembrance Sunday Press Statement

Due to the latest changes, relating to Government guidelines, Wotton-under-Edge Town Council and local representatives of the Royal British Legion have decided, that in order to maintain public safety during the coronavirus pandemic, it will not be possible to hold the Remembrance Sunday parade this year.  Instead, a simple wreath laying commemoration will take place at the war memorial on Remembrance Sunday, but members of the public are requested not to attend as their safety cannot be guaranteed.   The Town Mayor will lay a wreath on behalf of the people of Wotton, as will the RBL.

This decision is regretted but the Town Council and RBL must act in compliance with current Covid-19 restrictions and not compromise public safety.  It is hoped that the parade can take place as usual next year.

For clarity – there will be no parade or public wreath laying ceremony this year. The public are requested not to attend but to pay their respects separately during the day.wue-logo-250
