Be Vigilant – Dog Thefts

The Police have advised that they  are aware of dog thefts, and attempted dog thefts happening in our area. While they work to deal with such incidents promptly, they would be grateful for members of the public to be extra vigilant in order to keep your dog(s) safe.

If you notice any suspicious vehicles in the area please report to Police immediately. They have had reports of a white van (no registration number given) driving slowly alongside dog walkers. On one occasion, a male from a van grappling with a dog owner in order to steal the dog from them.

Black zip ties have also been seen on gate posts etc. to identify properties where there may be dogs to steal. If seen, obviously please remove immediately.

If you notice any suspicious activity, please make a note of the physical description of the occupants of the vehicles and if possible the registration numbers of cars/vans.

Please also pass this information to any dog owners you know who may not have access to Community Alerts.
