There have been emails seemingly sent from the Clerk’s email account stating that they relate to a Remittance Advice or CIL Payment Remittance Advice, these are spoofing emails and are impersonating the Clerk.
If you have received any of these emails, please do not click on any of the links. If you have done, please contact an IT professional who can carry out scans, check for changes to Rules, interference with files and folders, and any viruses.
Please delete these emails and also delete again in the Delete or Recycle Bin folder.
These emails are currently very common. They impersonate the email account and send hundreds of emails without the original email account holder being aware. They can clog up the mail box which means you cannot receive or send any emails.
The Town Council’s IT contractor reacted quickly, scanned and cleaned the account, and has blocked this from happening again. Extra security has been installed. No finance data, files, or folders were affected.
If you ever receive an email that you were not expecting or you are suspicious, please ring the originator to check and delete the email as above.
